hawaii . part II

sunday we dedicated as the day to do stuff not at the beach. we went to church that morning and then planned out the rest of our day. the whatcotts hadn't been to pearl harbor so we decided to all go and do that. it is such an awesome thing to do when you're in hawaii, plus it's free, so quin and i didn't mind going again even though we had both been there more than once.

the day was peaceful and always interesting. pearl harbor is an amazing place and has an amazing story.

after pearl harbor, we did a little short hike to a lighthouse. it had a fence with "love locks" on them where people put their names on a lock and lock it on the fence up there so their love will always last. we didn't know about it until we were there but if you ever go, buy a lock to take up! it is a fun little hike up and such a pretty view. everything is pretty in hawaii though.

monday morning we woke up at 3am to do the stairway to heaven hike or haiku stairs. we did this the last time were there too but of course we had to do it again! 3,992 steps later we made it to the top. it was completely different than the last time we went! it was freezing up at the top and crazy foggy. it was weird because you could barely see anything. two years ago it was such a nice morning, you could pretty much see the whole island. we still had fun though.

after the hike, we wanted to relax and not do a whole ton since we were all tired and sore. so we basically just relaxed on the beach all day and that was the extent of that!

tuesday we went to the temple and did a session. such a beautiful temple! we loved it. we couldn't not take advantage of staying so close to such a beautiful place. after the temple we went snorkeling at sharks cove, went to pali lookout and threw pennies into the crazy wind that blows up there, and then hiked up to manawili falls. there were signs all over the place that leptosporosis infested the water (a bacteria) but we stupidly chanced it. it's an infection that will show up within two to ten days. it's been a little over two weeks so i think we're good! swim at your own risks, seriously. it was a fun hike and so fun to jump off the waterfall. it is actually the waterfall in the jason mraz music video, i'm yours.

wednesday we woke up early to see the sunrise. it was quin and i's last day on oahu so we wanted to make sure we soaked it all in. later that day we flew over to the island of kauai for our last three days. we were excited to see another island but kinda sad to leave oahu!
