this years state was up in reno. quin and i decided last minute that we were going to go. we left friday morning. on our way up we ran into a sand storm in hawthorne! it was pretty crazy. just imagine a white out but instead of snow it was sand. there would be times when you couldn't see anything in front or around you because it was so thick. we heard a car accident right next to us happen but we couldn't see it. it was kinda scary because you didn't know if you were going to hit someone or someone was going to hit you! we finally made it through and they closed the roads down right after we passed it. we had some family and friends behind us that ended up waiting for the roads to open back up for six hours! we were so happy we got through it and didn't have to wait.
i took this on my phone so it's not the best but you can see the white fluff close to the ground. we had to drive through that!
after we arrived in reno many hours later, we found out that there was a huge fire and that they wouldn't be playing the games where they were originally going to be played. the high school where state was going to be held became a evacuation spot for people who had to leave their homes. reno was so windy and the weather was way crappy so that didn't help in containing the fire. since we already had our hotel rooms booked we ended up still staying in reno and then driving down to fernley where the games were changed to.
chases game was at noon on saturday so we woke up, ate breakfast, and headed back south to fernley. it's only about 30 miles away so it wasn't too far of a drive. we played carlin for state game. they actually played pretty good against us despite the final score. chase played great and his injuries didn't bother him too much. he's a good little player! they ended up winning 42 to 0. everyone did so good and played great together. it's crazy that chase is a senior and i won't have any more siblings playing any sports to come watch! of course, we still have basketball and baseball to cheer him on this year.

our drive back was less eventful. no sand storms or wrecks thank heavens. it was a fun weekend and we are glad we decided to go. congrats on another state championship chase! you guys rocked.
