a weekend of family

last weekend was our nephew, preston's, baptism. he turned 8 at the end of december and was so excited to get  baptized! i can still remember my baptism and it really is a precious memory. mom and dad monson came down from up north to be here for the special day. aunt sydney, uncle joe, their kids (carlie, brooke, and parker), and our other niece and nephew, (paige and ammon) came as well. they were able to stay at our house and we loved having the company.

they all got here late friday night. quin was at a work retreat so wasn't able to get there til the next morning. saturday was preston's big day. we all loaded up the cars and headed out to hurricane. when we got there preston and dean were already in their white baptism suits. preston looked so grown up and so excited! almost the whole family was there and it was fun to all be together for it.

after the baptism and program (which was so good! good job to both grandpa's for the amazing talks on baptism and the holy ghost) we went back to dean and amber's house for a little brunch if you will. then off again to preston's basketball game. he had a busy day! after the game we went and hiked the red rocks. the kids love climbing all over those things and especially love going up the "crack" or as quin calls it "fat mans misery". it started getting really windy so we all had to go back home and take showers because we were covered in red sand!

for dinner that evening, after getting washed up, we went to the family's favorite place of pizza factory. they have the family deal that you can get there and it always works so great for ours. plus pizza factory has the best breadsticks around! we always enjoy going there and the kids absolutely love it. i mean, who doesn't like pizza?! that night we all just hung out. the kids and some adults enjoyed the hot tub. uncle joe kept betting the kids a quarter to go jump in the cold pool and they kept doing it! it is seriously like forty degree water. after they won a couple quarters, the kids bet all those quarters for uncle joe to jump in off the water fall. so of course, he did. it's always funny to see people jump in because they really don't think it will be that cold but, oh boy, its frigid. i would no way do it. cold and me have never been friends. summer is just around the corner though and i can't wait!

we had a great weekend with the family and loved spending time with everyone. we don't get to see them very often so we thoroughly enjoy the time when we do. we are so proud of preston and his choice to get baptized as well. paige and carlie have also been baptized. they all are just getting so old!
