aren't those pictures of sculptures just the weirdest things you've ever seen? yeah. that is exactly what i thought. i was up north this past week for a training and one of the nights i was out with my inlaws, we happened to drive past this "garden" and my father in law said he remembered when he stumbled on it as a kid. he told me they were pretty freaked out when they just happened to walk through this guys back yard and see hands and hearts coming out of the ground. yeah, i'd be creeped out too! supposedly, this guy sculpted all of these and when he died, the city bought the land and opened it up as a place the public can go and view the sculptures. (long story short, of course). you can read a little bit about it's history here.
they sculptures are very good according to my uber-smart sculpturey knowledge and it was very interesting. but...bizarre. it isn't very big and it's free. so if you are ever in downtown salt lake and have ten minutes to kill, please, by all means visit this place. you will be thoroughly creeped and mesmerized like myself and inlaws. it's definitely not you're average "tourist" attraction!
