i went down earlier on friday to take pictures by the "rose garden" at our high school. i don't know why we always take pictures here because it's not that pretty. every graduating class does though. kinda strange but hey, you don't question small town traditions. chase's class had a whopping thirteen kids in it. gotta love small towns! i at least had twenty four. my class was huge! anyways, i got there early and left quin behind because he was being too slow for me and decided to come home late from hiking that day. so, in turn, he got left behind to go with my sister.
i got there just in time for all the magical rose garden pictures. about the time graduation started, quin and my sister were still no where to be found! late. but they did arrive only about ten minutes late and had to do the walk of shame of the aisle to the third row where we were sitting. the great thing about these small town graduations is that they don't last very long. you only have to go through thirteen kids. it was pretty fun though because my dad was the one who was asked to speak. he did it a little different and wore a microphone around his head and walked around and spoke in the direction of the class instead of a speech out to the crowd. he did an awesome job! he was so nervous at the beginning. my dad is in education and administration, oh and he is the bishop of our ward, so he is pretty used to speaking in front of people. i had never seen him so nervous! it was kinda funny. he did great though.
after his speech chase was able to walk and get his diploma from my dad as well. it was so fun seeing him graduate and complete this step in his life! now he is on to his mission (which he got his call but i'll save that for another post!). we couldn't be more proud of him. he gets to spend the summer with us growing up a little bit in st. george so we're not rid of him yet :)
