christmas 2010

for christmas this year we spent it in hiko at my parents home. it was so great getting to spend it with family and for us to be together for the first time. we were there for christmas eve, christmas day, and then the day after. we left for salt lake on the 27th to visit quins family so now we are just hanging out with his family for the rest of the break!

on christmas eve day we hiked up to the castle ridges behind my house. two of my cousins, my family, and grandpa all decided to do the hike. it took us about 4 hours but we managed to make it back down. it gets pretty steep some of the time. you are basically just hiking straight up the side of a mountain! it was pretty fun though and it was quins first time doing it. my grandpa is almost 80 years old and he made it clear up to the top and back down again and was the least sore out of all of us! he is definitely a trooper.

the group!

we hiked clear to the highest top! doesn't it look like a camel? i've always thought so...

almost there???

my mom got stuck!

we made it!!

you can see my house from here! we live out in the middle of the desert.

for christmas eve night, we always go to my aunt and uncles down in alamo for soup and rolls. its a tradition that we love to do! we always read, watch, or listen to the christmas story every year. i didn't get too many pictures of christmas eve...i kind of slacked off this year! after we got home we hung up our stockings for santa to find and went off to bed so excited for the morning to come!

all the gifts under the tree. there were so many!

quins excited face on christmas morning! we were excited to wake up and wake everyone else up. we have to wait til everyone is up before we go into the living room.

my parents got us a huge flat screen tv! we were pretty excited!

my grandpa getting his wranglers...he was pretty excited to get the 'brett favre' ones!

we opened all our gifts then started getting ready for dinner. my grandparents from las vegas and aunt liz and uncle mike from cali were coming up for dinner so we had to get ready for that! dinner was super yummy and it was so fun to have more family come up and getting to see them. my uncle mike LOVES the outdoors and history so we took him up to fossil peak to look for some fossils. we found some really cool fossilized shells and some other things. we brought the dogs and they went crazy running all over the mountain. they were pretty worn out afterwards.

my birthday is the day after christmas. we usually do the after christmas shopping in las vegas and go out to eat and a movie but this year it was on a sunday so we stayed home and went to church, ate some left overs, and opened more gifts! quin was in charge of the picture taking so this was the best that we got!

the next day we left for salt lake! on our drive up we got into some pretty heavy fog. i've never seen so much fog in my life! it was pretty cool to drive through. lights would just pop up out of no where. we are glad we made it up safe! we got to centerville in the early evening and had another christmas! quins parents gave us our stocking. it was fun to have a second christmas! quins family always draws names so his sister heidi had us and got us a crockpot! that is what we asked for since we didn't have one. doesn't everyone get at least five for their wedding?!? we didn't get any so we asked for that!

well that was our christmas in a nutshell! we had a blast spending time in hiko and now we are up north for some more fun. we have some fun plans to do while we are here. christmas was so amazing this year and we are so happy to be able to spend the whole break together this year! i'm sure quin got a little surprise from being in hiko for christmas...probably not your most typical christmas! we've never had snow on christmas day so it is fun to be up in c-ville and get to play in some.

we hope everyone had a great christmas holiday and are enjoying the rest of your break!!
merry christmas and a happy new year
