as of may 15th we have officially been married for a year! it has been the best year yet and it's unreal that we've already hit the year mark.
well for our anniversary we booked a trip to miami, florida! we had a blast and did not want to come home. it was definitely an interesting trip but ended up to be so fun. miami is quite different than where we are from thats for sure!
our first day there we drove out to key largo of the florida keys. it was so pretty and warm! we loved it. we hung out on the beach and went snorkeling. for the snorkel trip we took a 30 minute boat ride out to the middle of the ocean where a bunch of reef was and snorkeled around for about an hour. it was pretty crazy to be out in the middle of the ocean but it was so pretty. the water was so clear and blue and even warm! we saw a lot of fish and some people even saw a shark. we were pretty bummed we didn't get to see it. the reef out there was beautiful. we took a bunch of pictures on a water proof camera so i'll have to develop them and scan them onto my computer. that will have to be another post!
after hanging out at key largo all day, we drove back to miami. we were staying in a hotel in the art deco district of south beach. wrong choice. although south beach is beautiful in the day time. the night time is pretty crazy. we have never seen so many girls dressed as guys and vise versa. it was pretty weird. not to mention our hotel wasn't the greatest. the next morning after being sick of our hotel we high tailed it out of there! it just wasn't what we thought it was going to be like and we couldn't stand being in such a crappy place with the bugs and horrible service. it was seriously disgusting. great location but baaaaad hotel.
we found another hotel, a marriot one. you can never go wrong with a marriot. it was called the doral golf and spa resort. soooooo nice!!! we went from bad to absolutely amazing!! they even upgraded us to a master suite when they found it was our one year anniversary. definitely the nicest place we have stayed in! they hold golf tournaments for the PGA tour here and everything. this resort was huge! they brought us some chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. too bad we don't drink wine! we gave it away to some people at the pool and they told us it was really expensive. they enjoyed it for us! if you ever visit miami, this hotel is the one to stay at. you really couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. check it our here.
our whole trip consisted of the beach, pools, good food, shopping, sunshine, and relaxation. miami is a fun place to visit and we highly enjoyed ourselves. we hung out at miami and south beach a lot. spent a ton of time at the pools. there was even a water slide there! so fun. i have a picture of quin coming down in on the water proof camera. we got a little sun burned but it was worth it! we just keep telling ourselves it will turn into a tan :). the shopping in miami is great. our hotel was by an outlet mall so we got really good prices on everything. we didn't take a lot of pictures (i'm a little ticked at myself) but be warned there are still plenty.
anyways, our trip was absolutely amazing and i got to spend it with the most amazing man ever. our first year of marriage has been the best year of our lives. they say the first year is the hardest and it hasn't been bad at all. the rest of our lives will be a breeze!
