day five: st. lucia

thursday we arrived in st. lucia. it was beautiful!! rolling hills of green rainforest surrounded by the gorgeous blue waters. st. lucia was probably the prettiest island we saw. it was more hilly instead of being flat and just green green everywhere.
we found this welcome sign but it looked a little iffy behind it!

on st. lucia we took a taxi to pretty much everywhere that was cool here. he drove us up and over the windy roads of the hills and we pretty much all got a little car sick from the crazy roads and crazy drivers. every island we had crazy drivers but this one must have seemed worse because of all the windy roads we had to drive around on. we stopped by a pretty look out with some cute souvenir shops. we actually made a couple of these. pretty much every look out was so pretty. the locals knew that these were the places to set up their little shops because everyone we stopped at, low and behold, there were more souvenir shops! we also stopped at a guy on the side of the road holding a boa constrictor! of course we had to hold it so we paid the man a dollar to have him place that scaly thing on our shoulders. it was pretty cool. slightly creepy feeling but the guy told us that he just ate so he wasn't hungry then. thats comforting!?! nothing bad happened though so we were ok.

the snake!

st. lucia is known for it's twin peaks called the pitons (pronounced pee-tons). they were really pretty. we just saw them from afar and took pictures of course. we were true tourists with our cameras out at every stop, taking pictures of every green stretch of land we saw. we are the guys with the back packs and farmers tans. greatness. anyways, our next stop was at these beautiful botanical gardens and waterfall. some of the plants and flowers there looked straight out of dr. suess! or avatar. they were pretty awesome and soooo neat looking. i was obsessed with one flower and took like twenty pictures of it. i didn't realize until later when i looked back through them. i'm sure i took a picture of every one in that garden but i'll spare you and only post one...or two. depending on when i get around to picking out the pictures how i feel.

the pitons!

botanical gardens. i took a ton of pictures here but i only posted a small percentage. just know there were alot of cool plants.

this one was my favorite! doesn't look like something from avatar?

this one was fuzzy :)

the waterfall

after the botanical gardens we went to the sulfur springs of a volcano. basically we soaked in some mud that smelled like sulfur that apparently is supposed to help with your skin and make you look so pretty. we looked pretty alright! we were covered in mud from head to toe! the boys all wore speedo's and it was hilarious! they needed to get that mud in all the nooks and crannies and swim shorts would have just gotten in the way i guess. it was a pretty funny sight. we did enjoy the mud baths and we smelled of sulfur the rest of the day. the stench got a little nauseating after a while. especially on the windy roads!

after the mud baths, our taxi driver took us to a beach and we relaxed for awhile. it's always nice to lounge on a pretty beach. after that we went back to the port and we did some shopping. we had a highly enjoyable day on st. lucia! we also played a lot of the ship and went down the slide in the pool. i actually think we did this everyday along with soaking in the hot tub as our ship pulled away and the sun went down. talk about paradise right there. oh i miss it! anyone want to go on another cruise? i'm already ready for another one!!
