a while ago, quin and i bought some snow shoe passes up at park city. they were on sale for a great price and i had never been so i thought it would be a fun little adventure. since the snow has been lacking this year we haven't been able to go until now. we figured we might as well use them since we were planning on going up north anyways and it ended up working out perfect. it actually snowed a ton a couple days before we went and the snow was fantastic.
we stayed up in centerville until saturday. i had to work sunday so we packed everything up before we left to park city for the snow shoe tour. we thought we grabbed everything but when we go to park city and were about to get all dressed in our snow clothes to head up, i realized i had forgotten my snow clothes in quin's closet! i was ticked at myself. we had been waiting in park city too for about a half hour and we didn't realize that they were missing until right before we left to head up the mountain. ugh. so we had to make a quick trip to sports authority across the street and bought the cheapest snow clothes we could find! good thing they were having sales cuz snow clothes are never cheap. our guide was so nice to wait for us and our little detour!
after that dilemma, we headed up to where we were going to hike. it was about a three hour tour and we snow shoed three miles! my legs were definitely sore afterwards. our guide was named jeff and he did a great job. we went through exclusive excursions so if anyone wants to go, i would recommend them! anyways, we started at the base of a mountain and pretty much veered up the entire thing and back down again. he also provided us with lunch and they were super yummy sandwiches. it really was a blast and i would love to do it again. if we lived where there was more snow, we would just get our own snow shoes. but unfortunately we live where it's nice and sunny :)
prepare for an overload of pics! our guide was super great at willing to take pictures of us and it was just so pretty up there we didn't mind :)
us trying to show off our snow shoes. this is a before pic also before i started stripping layers. i got so hot!
such a pretty view
this is us after we took some layers off.

the pretty heber city mountains
oh and p.s. we leave for our cruise in 4 days!! so excited
p.p.s. update on the mother...she had her surgery on friday and all went well. the surgery lasted a lot longer than they thought because the cyst was a lot bigger. it had basically gone into her ovary and imploded the thing. there was no ovary left except pieces scattered inside the cyst. the pictures of the thing are stinking cool looking. ouchy looking but pretty cool. i'll have to try to get a copy and put them on here. anyways, so they cyst was a lot bigger and it had twisted everything around a couple times. it the pics you can see a huge knot where it was had twisted out of place. the surgery lasted a little more than two hours and they had thought only an hour. so with it taking longer, they had to give my mom more anesthesia. she doesn't do super great on it so it took her about twenty hours to actually wake up from it. they ended up staying at our house until saturday night (i know, we are horrible for leaving) and then headed back to hiko that night. she is doing well now, slight pain but way better than before. they will biopsy the cyst to make sure it isn't cancerous and we will know within the next week. the doctor said it didn't look suspicious so we're hoping all is well! she's a tough cookie.
