back 2 back

this past weekend we went to las vegas to watch my little brother play for the basketball state championship. quin and i got down there friday night for the first game. our girls made it also so we went to watch them first and then chase played after. our friends amy and kobee came down with us! they are both from my home town too so it was fun to all drive together. our whole town comes down for these state games. it was always so fun playing when i was in high school because you have the support from the whole town. i'm not even kidding when i say the whole town comes either! by looking at it you'd think only a number came down, but really, it is the whole town. i love it.

chases team played smith valley from the north. it was such an intense game!! it was close the entire game and at the end we were tied with 3 seconds left and my cousin derek made a layup to win the game! it was pretty awesome. everyone was so excited. but his was only the first step. they had one more game to win the next day to be state champs. we had the late games both days so we had ALL day to sit around and watch the other state games. they were all played at the orleans arena in vegas which is a pretty huge place right off the strip. quin and i left for a couple hours to go shopping before we came back to watch our girls and boys play.

the girls played eureka and they ended up winning! it was really cool for them to win. not to sound cocky, but it just wouldn't feel right if alamo didn't take state! quin and i were thinking on our way home and there hasn't been a year for a really long time when pahranagat valley high school didn't win state in at least one sport. it's a huge deal in our town! that's what small towns are for though.

our boys and chase played virginia city. their whole starting line up was over six feet. we only have one  guy that is over 6 foot. we were all pretty nervous for our boys! they came out fighting and the game was close the whole time (just like the night before!). We got down by 7 and then after that, something snapped and our boys just took off! we ended up winning by thirteen!! it was unbelievable and so fun! chase is always a little timid when he shoots but he had an awesome game...probably one his best! i was so proud of him and so excited for him. i absolutely love watching him play sports. hes a stud!

congrats chase and the panthers for taking state, back to back, two years in a row!
