we always go through phases of what our favorite things really are

so i though i'd write some of them down so that we could remember.

since this is quin and mines little journal of sorts.

quin:
a typical mans man. he could spend hours watching espn or any kind of sports game on. that will probably never change. i think if that was the only channel we got he would be happy. unfortunately we don't get it at all! he only gets to watch the games that are on abc and nbc. i'm ok with it though. i can't say that much for quin! at least we get to watch the superbowl for this sunday...

when quin was younger, him and his family went everywhere! he has been to every state except north dakota. crazy huh?! world traveler those monsons are! i love it. i love to travel and i'm glad quin enjoys it too. anyways, when quin was younger he saw the jayhawks mascot and thought it was pretty cool. he started liking the kansas jayhawks every since! on one of those travels across the united states, they were able go to kansas where they stopped at the university of kansas. he loved the campus. it is his favorite basketball team and you will always see him sportin his jayhawk t-shirt and hat. he is so dang cute. i'll have to take a picture of him the next time there is a game.

did you know quin used to sing and dance in the nauvoo pageant? yep he sure did. quins family did it for about ten years or so! that was part of the reason they traveled so much. everytime they went back east they would make it a little longer and visit other states. they are a very talented group when it comes to dancing and singing and acting. quin enjoys it a lot and he even took a couple dance classes here at dixie. at our wedding he was the one who knew how to dance and i was the one in need of lessons! usually it is the other way around. good thing he didn't get too embarrassed of my dancing skills.

if you know quin, you know he loves food! there isn't too much that quin doesn't eat. which is good for me since i never know what to really cook. one of his favorite snacks is cheese and crackers. we've been getting wheat thins lately and just cutting up the cheese and wallah! an easy and healthy snack.

quin and i both love the beach and being outdoors. we both are very excited for summer to get here and for it go get warm outside. quin loves all the normal indoor/outdoor sports and he also loves doing the extreme (well...what i consider extreme) like surfing, mountain biking, snowmobiling, etc. anything that has to do with a boat, he is down. i never grew up around recreation lakes and boating but i definitely found a love for it as well! for the winter months though we both love to get all bundled up and head out to the ski resorts. quin ski's, i snowboard. it is something we both enjoy to do and one of our favorite activities during the winter time! i'm ready for it to be summer though.

one of my most favorite channels to watch is hgtv! i could watch it all day as opposed to quins espn. unfortunately, we do not get this channel either so we both compromise and don't really watch anything at all. i love that channel though and every show that is on it. i love the home makeover ones. 'dear genevieve' is probably my favorite. she is so talented when it comes to decorating a home and has such good ideas. 'decorating on a dime' is also one i enjoy! it is still out of my budget range even though it says "a dime" but i've got ideas stashed away in my brain for later in life when my dime will go a lot further.

something i have got hooked on lately and i almost hate to admit it...the bachelor. i have never really watched it before but oh boy am i loving it. i don't like that i have to wait a week in between shows just to know what happens. that is how bad i am loving this show! of course, i think emily should win. she is the sweetest ever. michelle...i wish you were a better rep for utah! it is a great show though and i am highly enjoying it. quin won't watch it with me so i usually have to hulu it when he isn't home yet. haha. i will probably look back at this and laugh at myself that i ever liked this show.

ever since i was young, the first and only meal i knew how to make was macaroni and cheese. i seriously love it and could eat it everyday. i have loved it ever since i can remember. they even have it in whole wheat now! which i can only hope that means it is a little more healthy for me. quin is probably sick of it by now because i make it at least a couple times a week. there are even left overs in the fridge from me making it yesterday. i know what's for dinner tonight!

i am a juice lover. i will always and forever have some kind of juice in my fridge. i'm not a huge fan of soda, but juice on the other hand will get me every time. it is just so good. my favorite is simply lemonade with raspberry. try it. its da best!

 something that pulls at my heart strings...animals. i would take home every stray animal running around who needed a home if i could. i think they are all soooo cute. i have never not had a pet of some kind. when i was growing up we had dogs, cats, hamsters, birds, cows and horses (yes i will call those pets too). in fact, in high school, our dog sadie passed away. my mom told me we weren't going to get anymore dogs. well little did they know i already had a puppy i was planning on bringing home. my basketball coach's dog had puppies and i claimed one of them. one day my parents got home to the surprise of a new pup! i wasn't very prepared and only had a ziploc bag of kibble brought home from my coach. needless to say my parents weren't very pleased. i refused to give her back. a couple months later i talked them in to getting another puppy. now we have baylor and ellie and my parents love them ;). last year, one of my patients were trying to get rid of their kittens. i couldn't say no. i named her lucy and loved her...until i got engaged and realized quin is allergic to cats. i was sooo sad to give her up. one day, no matter what quin says, we will have at least a puppy. or two ;)

baylor: half mastiff, half great dane. huge. sweetest dog ever.

  

ellie: full of energy. pure blood black golden retriever. i will forever stick by it. haha.

lucy: look how cute she is. she was quite a menace though.

speaking of dogs...have you ever watched the puppy bowl?? it is on animal planet and it comes on around the time of the super bowl. so cute!! i'm sad we don't have animal planet to watch it. it really isn't anything that spectacular but soo funny. they put a bunch of puppies on a fenced in mini football field and have them "play" for the puppy bowl. it is ridiculous but i think it is the cutest thing ever. all the puppies are adopted after the show and go to loving homes.

last but not least...we both loooove to snuggle. well, probably me more than quin but i know he secretly loves it. this is my MOST favorite thing to do. quin is just so snuggable. i love that he lets me put my cold feet in his knee pits so they will get warm.
